How Support at Home Compare works
A plain-English guide to what this site does, where the data comes from, and how we stay free for families.
Where the provider data comes from
Every provider listing is drawn from the Australian Government's Aged Care Service List — the official, mandated register of aged-care services, published as open data under a CC BY 4.0 licence. That's the same underlying source My Aged Care uses. We refresh it on a schedule so the directory stays current.
Where the prices come from
Under the Support at Home program, providers are required to publish their prices. We collect those published rates and line them up so you can compare like with like — the cheapest and dearest personal-care rate in your suburb, for instance. Because caps have been deferred, these rates move, so we also keep a dated log of every change we detect.
Where a provider hasn't published rates yet, we still list them — you'll just see the directory entry without a rate until it's available. The comparison never depends on us having every price.
How we make money (and why you don't pay)
Families never pay us. If you ask to be matched, and you go on to engage a provider we introduced, that provider may pay us a referral fee. That's the whole business model — it's why the comparison and the shortlist are free to you, and why we're upfront that matched providers can contact you.
What we are — and aren't
We're an independent comparison service. We are not a government body, not My Aged Care, and not a care provider. We don't rank providers by who pays us, and we show every provider in the official list for your area, not just ones we have a referral arrangement with. Always confirm details directly with a provider and with My Aged Care (1800 200 422) before deciding.
